HAVANA, Cuba — The Cliff Keen Wrestling Club’s Alec Pantaleo captured the 70kg/154-pound gold medal — the first medal of his senior-level career — at the Cerro Pelado International on Sunday (Feb. 16) at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva.

Pantaleo, a 2019 U.S. U23 world team member, posted a perfect 5-0 record and defeated fellow American Reece Humphrey by forfeit in the gold-medal final. Pantaleo previously defeated Humphrey, 7-2, in the first round of pool competition on the tournament’s first day. He also earned a pair of wins against Cuban opponents and another against the Dominican Republic in pool action.

CKWC’s Youssif Hemida also medaled, claiming bronze at 125kg/275 pounds with a win over Cuba’s Lazaro Silva in his medal match.
