The Cliff Keen Wrestling Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who attended our benefit dinner and golf outing this weekend. Both events were incredibly successful with great turnout, enthusiasm and generosity from our former wrestlers, family and friends.
The inaugural benefit dinner served as a wonderful kickoff event as Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon, the benefit dinner’s keynote speaker, energized the crowd with his emphatic support for Michigan wrestling and the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club. Drawing from his football background, he spoke of his high regard for wrestlers and his positive interactions with Wolverine wrestlers since becoming athletic director. Finally, he echoed our belief that resources need to be available for senior-level programs, recognizing that they are a major ingredient in building a dominate college wrestling program. After a very brief early-morning drizzle, Mother Nature smiled on the University of Michigan Golf Course the following day as 95 golfers hit the links for the 15th annual Wolverine Wrestling Golf Classic. We saw some great shots and some not-so-great shots, but we’re confident that all in attendance had a wonderful time. Congratulations to our winning foursome of Ish Picklesimer, Cory Picklesimer, Alan Radka and Tom Hollandsworth, who captured the top prize for the second straight year. The preparation for next year’s events is already underway. We will host the 2012 Benefit Dinner and Wolverine Wrestling Golf Classic on Fri-Sat, August 24-25, at the University of Michigan Golf Course. Full details will be announced shortly.
